to make you laugh...

Well, I guess our secret is out---once everything is a little more stable, I'll keep you a little more updated...until then, I'm just gonna lay back and pray everything is ok.
Haven't had a funny Jake story for a while...but last night was the kicker. I was on the living room floor wrapping gifts for christmas...wrapping supplies everywhere. I mean the whole rug was covered. I do not enjoy wrapping when I'm rushed, so I was in a bad mood and griping at everybody. My poor kids were just doing everything they could to please me. Right in the middle of wrapping a bigger gift, Jake says "I gotta go potty"...always at the most inopportune times. So, being the hormonal mother I am, I said "just go in there...you're big enough to do it by yourself this time"...I was just being lazy and didn't want to go. So, he smiled and off he went to be a big boy. A few minutes later, he calmly said.."mommy....will you come in here" ...he was talking so nicely and gentle...Again, I was so irritable (you can ask my Aunt Sue...I'm sure she could tell from earlier in the night that I was on edge a little), I said "Ava...go in there and see what he wants". Sooo....she went in, all smiles...eager to help....and very calmly walked back to tell me that "Jake fell in the toilet". Well, I'd heard that story before and it was always a big lie just to get me in the bathroom. So, I said "whatever". She looked at me intently and said "no mom. He is in the toilet. His leg is stuck in the toilet. He cannot get out. Like, his knee is in the water.". It was really funny to hear her get so serious. It was even funnier that Jake was just sitting in the toilet waiting for help to come. It was like he was just used to being in these perdicaments (sp?). So, I huffed and stomped and went in the bathroom yelling at him (and I feel really bad about it) because I figured he did it on purpose to be funny. There was water (or pee...not sure) all over the floor and his left leg was straight in the toilet, while the other was wrapped around the seat. His left leg was straight...like he was standing in the toilet. What's worse is that his foot was suctioned up in the hole. So, he broke down in disappointment in himself. He was sobbing it was so sad. He said "mommy I cannot help it. I fell in and I was trying to do it all by myself like you wanted". OMG...I felt like an abusive mother. So, I was finally able to de-suction his foot and rescue him from the toilet. I cleaned up the mess and his leg and then apologized to him and asked him to forgive me. Then, he said mommy you're beautfiul (his new favorite thing to say). Ava just stood and watched. She was pretty proud of herself for defending her brother. She kept saying "mom...I saw it for real. He fell in. He really didn't mean to." The wrath of mommy had to come to a stop! So, I'm trying to b calmer and more rational, but lately it's been a fine line. Just ask my poor husband.

That is too funny about Jake. He reminds me so much of Brody just so loving. That 1st trimester seems to be the hardest as far as the hormones go. I think.

Ok so that shoots my theory of sitting on the potty backwards less likely of falling in! It's a prescious story though! Don't beat yourself up about it we've all had days like that...well maybe not feet stuck in the toilet but days that don't go so well! ha ha! You're a good momma!

Clearly I only have girls because I couldn't understand how the foot got into the toilet until I read Susie's comment! LOL!

Susie...your suggestion about sitting backwards on the potty is the only thing that has worked for Jake! Thanks so much. You didn't tell him to fall in!
