Illness hits the Trueloves

Well, all I can say is that it's a real good thing that I work with a couple really nice, compassionate, christian men...I have only worked one day this week and have no plans to return until Monday...
Over the weekend, Ava and Jacob started with a small cold...which over time has escalated into a tragic illness. We went to Dr. Ruff on Monday and saw the NP, Yvonne. I try to never treat my own children...just a preference of mine...anyway, Jacob was diagnosed with sinusitis and was put on antibiotic for 10 days. Ava was diagnosed with something...never did get a real good answer from the NP...said her throat looked like strep and her lungs were diminished...put her on zithromax for 4 days. We went home and figured all would be well the next morning, as it usually is when we get these sicknesses.
Jacob never did slow down...kept going...a little grouchy at times, but sleeping, eating, taking his medicine...probably on the road to recovery. Ava on the other hand, is headed for the hospital if she doesnt do some serious improving overnight.
Her and I went back today and saw Dr. Ruff, himself. I am 100% confident he can cure anything my kids would ever get...Ava has lost a pound in 2 days, is totally dehydrated, and continues with a persistent fever of over 104...has only come down to 102 in 4 days...Dr. Ruff gave her a thorough exam and talked to her a little bit...he always has a way of getting right to her little heart...he calls her A G...he has called her that since the day he saw her in the hospital (when she was born)...he can always melt her heart. Ava received 2 injections of Rocephin...a powerful antibiotic that burns like fire. He said that if she does not SIGNIFICANTLY improve by 8 am Thursday that he will do extensive work up and probably admit her. I think he is thinking a possible pneumonia...strep...not sure, but he is a little concerned...as am I.
Right now, she is on the couch...cannot walk from the injection (Ave has always been a little dramatic, but she does really appear to be in pain). Her fever is currently 103.2 after ibuprofen. She has peed once since yesterday afternoon and is still without food or drink...she just can't tolerate anything.
Say a little prayer for my little munchkins...I hope we all get better overnight. And I am so grateful for a wonderful bunch of doctors to take care of my babies and their mom. Dr. Hopf and Beckman (who I work with) are not a bit upset that I've missed work. They are genuine guys...that's why I chose to go work with them.

OH, your poor, poor babies! I knew Ava wasn't acting right when she was here on Sunday...I just figured she was being shy since the grandparents were here. I hope the Rocephin kicks in and you guys don't end up in the hospital. And, I'm thinking I need to lysol my kitchen since she was here a few days ago. Did she play at all in Braylee's room? ;) J/k. Let me know if I can do something for you. I still don't feel great, but I promise to help if I can. Love you guys.

I hope both of them start feeling better, soon. Hopefully Ava's meds kick in and she will be back to her ole self.

P.S. Gracie loves Dr. Ruff, too. He sure does have away with the kids...Gracie says she wants to be a doctor like Dr. Ruff.
